Still Life - Acrylic and Oil on Board 2020 - 24 x 32
Shortly before the world went into seclusion due to Covid-19, I gave a lesson to my 5th Grade art students about how in times of turmoil, artists often respond by creating beautiful, cheerful things. Little did I know what was to come. During the early days of 'shelter in place' all I could think about was painting flowers. I primarily identify as an abstract artist but I have a deep love for Still Lifes, in particular the works of the Fauves. I was experimenting with oil paint at the time and produced 3 Still Lifes that satisfied me before returning to abstraction.
